Ripe pear, Apple & Nectar
In Welsh mythology, King Arawn was the ruler of the realm of Annwn, which was the Celtic underworld, also known as the Otherworld. Whilst a lot of underworld mythology is considered bleak, the realm of Annwn, is the land of faeries and is considered to be a blessed place where no disease, hunger or death exist. It is a paradise where time doesn’t pass and food is in abundance. The Otherworld is sometimes linked to Avalon, the island of apples in Arthurian legend, with Avalon seen as a place of preparation for those entering the realm of Annwn. King Arawn features prominently in the first Mabinogi, which is a collection of early Welsh stories about oral folklore traditions. King Arawn himself is often associated with the hunt and is the king and ruler of the wild, making him much more than the god of death. He is often flanked by his giant white spectral hunting hounds. The baying of these hounds herald his arrival, and the beginning of the hunt. King Arawn was also a skilled magician who could change his appearance and shape-shift for extended periods of time.
