Sage is an evergreen perennial that grows in the Southwestern region of the United States and northern Mexico, and is considered a sacred herb.
The oil and resins in the leaves release a pleasant fragrance when they are crushed, rubbed or burned. The smoke generated by the smouldering leaves has a primordial history of use as a part of spiritual practice and cleansing.
Sage is used for cleansing and purifying sacred spaces or items, to enhance intuition during ritual practices, to dispel negative energy and to help soothe stress and anxiety.
Each stick is between 6-4" and is tied with 100% cotton string. The sage has been ethically and sustainably sourced.
White sage: meditation, divination, smudging, cleansing and purification.
Blue sage: cleanses negativity and hate, encourages health, prosperity and healing within ones life.
Blue sage has a lighter herbal fragrance than white sage, making it a softer alternative when wanting to smudge ones home.
BURNING INSTRUCTIONS
Hold your sage bundle on one end and point the other end at a 45 degree angle downwards. Light the end facing down by holding it over a constant flame until it begins to smoke. If a flame forms on the tip gently blow it out.
Guide the smoking tip of your smudge stick in the direction you wish to cleanse. Be sure to catch the embers in a heat resistant receptacle.
Air flow is integral if you are indoors. Be sure to open a window, or to turn on a fan to help circulate the smoke and to keep the sage bundle smouldering.
